Before a VIN verification appointment, there is one thing I always tell clients: the vehicle has to be there. A photo, title, or registration by itself is not enough for an in-person VIN check.
One of the most common calls I receive is from someone with a vehicle that came from out of state, a rebuilt title, or a homemade trailer. During the appointment, I meet the client where the vehicle is located and inspect the VIN plate or sticker in person. It needs to be readable and reachable so I can compare the number with the paperwork presented.
